Keyfrost Environmental Sensitivity
European legislation 517/2014 establishes the rules relating to the marketing of HFC-containing equipment and products. One-piece refrigerant machines fall under item 12 and may use refrigerant gases with GWP less than 2500. Keyfrost produces ranges of monoblocks that use different refrigerants including R449A, R290, R455A etc.
Given the increasingly stringent regulations and the technological availability, Keyfrost wanted to develop and support, above all, the expansion of the monoblock range using R455A refrigerant. Where possible it is therefore recommended to use monoblocks at R455A and/or R290. R455A machines have a 90% lower environmental impact, due to the refrigerant charge, in terms of CO2eq.

Use of ultra-low GWP refrigerants
The new range of Keyfrost monoblocks includes the use of brand new ultra-low GWP refrigerants. With a GWP of only 146, the R455A stands as the definitive solution for the future of commercial and industrial refrigeration for low and medium temperatures.
After several tests and studies based on the entire cold chain, it has been demonstrated that the TEWI of machines operating at R455A is also more favorable thanks to the coolant COP but also to the ease of management of machines that do not involve particular complications for the user compared to older machines at R404A.

Safety
The refrigerant used is composed of a slightly flammable azeotropic mixture (A2L according to ISO 817). However, the use of R455A is made safe (in compliance with the main safety regulations) thanks to the particular flammability properties of the refrigerant including:
a) Relatively high lower flammability limit of ’11.8% (LFL);
b) Relatively low upper flammability limit compared to the lower flammability limit 12.9% (UFL);
c) Minimum ignition energy greater than 1000 times that of propane;
d) Flame propagation speed less than 1.5cm/s.

Compliance with the relevant regulations
Keyfrost monoblocks are designed, built and distributed according to the relevant current regulations and regulations.
In particular, the entire range respects, where relevant:
a) The maximum charge limit imposed on machines using A2L refrigerants according to EN 378-1, without having to take into account the reference volume, the type of application, the access class of the application and particular safety precautions due to the nature of the refrigerant itself;
b) Design of the refrigeration system according to EN 378;
c) The PED directive with maximum classification 2;
d) The F-GAS regulation;
e) The legislation on the electrical equipment of machines EN 60204-1
f) The Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC);
g) EC Regulation No. 765/2008;

Eco-friendly vision
The new Keyfrost machines are characterized by their eco-compatibility: from the design phase to the decommissioning phase of the machines.
● The design aims for energy efficiency.
● Production aims for minimal material waste.
● Thanks to protection and security devices,
the machine aims for maximum durability.
● Most of the machine was decommissioned
components are recoverable and recyclable.
Compact systems
The new machine range aims not only to limit waste but also to make thermodynamic systems as compact as possible without sacrificing efficiency and reliability. Compactness also ensures less use of coolant, thus limiting the impact of machines on our planet.
Wide choice of options
The machines can be customizable according to their intended use and a number of basic options are made available such as material treatment against corrosion, microport, water condensation, tropicalized versions, acoustic siren etc.

Energy efficiency
The machines are built with the latest generation and high efficiency components. Heat exchange batteries and valves are chosen and sized to work at optimal operating conditions for each type of application.

Possibility of interconnection
Keyfrost machines have the possibility of interconnection with the Frigotel closed-loop supervision system.

These are its main features and options:
• hermetic compressors
• air or water condensation
• thermostatic valve or capillary tube coolant expansion
• evaporation of defrost water via evaporation basin with anti-corrosion hot gas pipe
• control of the refrigeration system via electronic control unit
• light cell lighting
• door resistance connection cable (BT versions)
• fixed calibration high pressure switch and manual reset (on models: see attachments)
• low pressure switch (on models: see attachments)
• On/Off condensation control via calibratable probes
• provision for microport
• exterior body made of galvanized steel sheet, epoxy powder painted at 200°C
• interior body in satin magnesium aluminum
• manual cell light switch
• manual switch on/off system
• electric motors protected by thermistors
• connection port to MODBUS systems for management control and HACCP
