In the glass industry, clean rooms are used in the production process of laminated glass
Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that does not shatter into multiple pieces when broken. When broken, an intermediate layer, typically made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), intervenes to hold the surrounding layers of glass together. Glass lamination must take place in a controlled environment where the air quality must meet specific parameters of cleanliness, temperature, and relative humidity.
In clean rooms, the concentration of airborne particles is controlled through microfiltration, and the temperature and humidity are kept constant, generally at 18°C and 25% relative humidity. Clean rooms are built across the laminated glass production line at the point where the glass sheets and PVB (polyvinyl butyral) film are bonded together. Clean rooms are designed in perfect harmony with the needs of manufacturers and production line models.
